Familia…
I was a lil bored today, browing the web looking for ideas for a family vacation (different than the Puerto Rico or Florida trips we usually do) and I came across this video that was put together by the Costa Rican Tourism Board [Instituto Costarricense de Turismo]. I became curious because one of my fraternity brothers and friend Luis Nicho just got back from there and it sounded like he had a blast.
Now the only thing I knew Costa Rica for were those really cool tree top tours you see on the travel channel and how good a nice "casado" platter is……after watching this video…it really makes the shortlist of places I would like to go see. I am gonna put this on my vision board.
A warm saludos out to my other fraternity Brother Carlos (TIEMPO) Ruiz, who now that I can think about it may actually be the only (TICO) Costa Rican I know…lol

Have you ever been to Costa Rica? Leave us a comment and tell us about it!
I guess it’s time for the Ticos to come out of the closet.
Mi familia (mother and father) are from Costa Rica and my father is back down there right now, splitting his retirement time between Costa Rica and Kentucky.
Mis primos have been living mostly in LA and Connecticut but we are now spread over the US from coast to coast. Last I heard we have a cousin who came to the states and setup shop in North Carolina and my brother settled in Kentucky after years in the Military.
Strangely enough, our family includes Swedish immigrants to Costa Rica who then moved on to Texas. I keep trying to track down the family of my Mom’s Uncle Gustav, or as she grew up calling him “Tio Gustav”.
However, we grew up in Erie PA, a small town/city on the shore of Lake Erie. The only Ticos we knew growing up were family.
I have been all over the world, but never to Costa Rica. I should fix that considering that its the only place I’ll get free lodging.
I have plenty of friends that go to Costa Rica. They all have great time. I’ve always wanted to go… and I’m sure i’ll go in the near future. It seems to be cost effective vacation. You’ve made a great choice!
