As a Mexican growing up in a Mexican Town – Santa Ana, in southern California, we celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve. We get together at Abuelitas house or whoever is the Matriarch and we make a bunch of tamales. This year we got together at Grandmas house and shared tamales with ponche ( spice/hot fruit drink) and arroz, and chile. Grandma makes enough tamales to last a few days.
